DAI

The accident Katy was in caused one adrenal gland to crush, a split liver and spleen, broken scapular bone, pelvic bone and two vertebrae, none of which required surgery. The worst part though, is she has suffered a Diffuse Axonal Injury to her brain, including her brain stem, which can be very devastating. After seeing the MRI results, there was a lot of head shaking by physicians. It was a very frightening first few days in the ICU.
